My First Job: Jim Webber

Jim Webber

Now: Business owner

Then: Dancing snowman

Current position: Owner of Jim Webber H.R. Training and Consulting

First job: Dancing snowman at Disneyland's Fantasy on Parade when I was in high school.

What I learned: In addition to learning how to dance and breathe in a heavy snowman suit, I learned the importance of being on time, functioning as part of a team and smiling even when every muscle aches. This was my first experience with a time clock, and while some of my co-workers had a lax approach to being on time, I always reported a few minutes early and was ready to work. It was an accident because I had to arrive when my dad was able to drive me – early – but the payoff was obvious when I was offered a plum summer job while some of my co-workers were not invited back.
