Current position: Owner and creator of Karan Dannenberg Clothier a nine-year-old women's clothing boutique in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood that she said she created "on a wing, a prayer, a dream and my American Express card."
First job: At age 19, I went to work for an architect and engineering office in Boston. I greeted clients, answered phones, handled the mail and pretty much ran the office for the owners. A friend worked across the hall from the office and said they were looking for someone to help with the office work. I got the job. I had the most fun during my lunch breaks shopping at Leeds one of Boston's finest stores.
What I learned: I learned that customer service and dealing gracefully with clients are essential to any successful business. Every customer matters. It is so important to listen to what people want and need. This is why our business is successful. We greet every one at the door with a smile and a warm welcome. We listen to what their needs are and work with passion to meet them. Without our customers, we have no business.
