Current position: President and founder of Career Woman, and author of "Your Career, Your Way!"

First job: Selling women's clothing for Nordstrom

What I learned: I had to become a good listener and learned everyone is different – and that we should treat others as they want to be treated, not necessarily how we would want to be treated (as that old saying goes). Finally, my first job taught me the most important assets a company will ever have are its people. I learned the importance of focusing on developing employees, communicating openly and working together as a team to accomplish goals and objectives. I've worked hard to apply these lessons learned to every job I've had throughout my career – and they've been some of the most important lessons I'll probably ever learn.
