My First Job: Mike Fox, vice president of marketing and sales

Mike Fox

Current position: Vice president of marketing and sales for Talking Rain Beverage Co.

First job: Washing trucks and some janitorial work on weekends for a bread company. My favorite part was getting to drive the trucks (didn't really have a license) that had the huge, grinding stick shifts.

How I got the job: My father was the supervisor for the depot division I worked at. It was my first experience with nepotism.

What I learned: That every job, no matter how small and how menial, was important to making a business successful. Whatever job you have, no matter how small or how challenging or how much you may not care for it, do the best you can for your own sake. I also learned that nepotism does not mean you can be slack. My dad was determined that because I was his son working along with his employees, I needed to be sharper and [more] on top of my task than anybody else doing theirs. I like to think I have the same strong work ethic that my father had and still has. I know that I do. Thanks, Dad!
