My First Job: Richard Baron

Richard Baron

Now: Company owner

Then: Janitor

Current position: Owner, Responsive Management Systems

First job: When I was in sixth through eighth grade, I was an elementary-school janitor in the late afternoon to early evening. I emptied pencil sharpeners, washed chalkboards, dusted erasers, moved furniture, removed scuff marks, emptied trash cans, dust-mopped, turned lights off and secured doors Monday through Friday.

What I learned: The truth of a famous quote: "One measure of success is doing well the things we like to do. A better measure of success is doing well the things we don't like to do."
