Washington state is home to a host of health care education and training resources

Across Washington state and throughout the Puget Sound region, nurses are clearly in high demand. But so are the specially trained support staff, technicians and clinical specialists whose health care skills meet the needs of a growing population.

An associate’s degree is the most common requirement for many positions, but a bachelor’s degree is typically needed for specialty care.

More than 30 colleges and universities across Washington state offer health care training and education programs to prepare candidates for these professions.

There are myriad health care hiring opportunities and career advancement programs available. The following list is not all-inclusive, but shows the variety of careers and courses available:

Puget Sound Nurse Practitioner Association: Covers small and specialty clinics, as well as larger employers.

Washington Healthcare Careers: Search for a wide range of nursing careers, and imaging jobs in radiology, sonography, mammography, ultrasounds, and CT scans; and clinical jobs in physical, respiratory, occupational and speech therapy; social work; behavioral and mental health counseling; education; and pharmacy.
