SEATTLE -- As boaters gather on Lake Washington this weekend to celebrate the opening of boating season, the lakefront condominium community Water's Edge is celebrating its "grand sell-out" from 1-4 p.m. today and Sunday.
Located on the south shore of Lake Washington, Water's Edge has two condominiums remaining for sale. Unit 403 is a one-bedroom home priced at $213,950 that includes a boat slip. Unit 105 is a studio priced at $129,950 that does not include a boat slip, but slips are available for rent in the community's gated dockage located just outside the front door.
"Meet us in studio 105 on the lakefront, enjoy lunch and take a tour of these two amazingly priced homes while they're still available," says sales and marketing representative Dora Carelli of Horizon Real Estate Broker. "If you act quickly, this summer you will be able to walk out the front door of your condominium, hop in your boat or kayak, and enjoy the lake right from your own backyard."
David Jansen, the sales representative for Water's Edge, says that many of the homeowners in the community live in the Puget Sound region and have purchased their condominiums as second homes.
"Being able to enjoy an affordable in-city waterfront retreat is a rare opportunity in Seattle. For some of our homeowners, their Water's Edge condos are essentially their weekend lake homes," Jansen says.
Bob and Clairene Almond are among those who purchased their Water's Edge condominium as a second home. The couple lives in Bellingham.
"We love our little hideaway overlooking the lake," Clairene Almond says. "When we feel the need for a bit of big cityscape, we head for the condo and visit all of our favorite shops that have not made it to Bellingham.
"We also do a lot of traveling, so being close to the airport -- an inexpensive cab ride away -- is very important. It's a great investment with a great view, and the perfect way to enjoy all that Seattle has to offer."
Jansen says the community's location near downtown Renton, Seattle and Interstate 90 makes it a convenient address for homeowners who choose to live on the lake year-round.
The studio home features an open-living-room floor plan and includes a patio facing the lake. The home includes a kitchen alcove with full-size range, microwave and refrigerator.
The one-bedroom home has floor-to-ceiling wall-to-wall glass doors that lead to a 20-foot-wide covered balcony. "You can spread out and enjoy your stunning lake view while having dinner and drinks or morning coffee," Carelli says.
Both of the homes feature slab granite countertops, contemporary lighting fixtures, tub-to-ceiling shower surrounds and cherry or maple kitchen cabinetry with crown molding. Window coverings, stainless steel kitchen appliances, and washers and dryers and also included.
Amenities at Water's Edge include a waterfront picnic area with barbecue and assigned storage lockers. The community is located near Seward Park, Kubota Garden and Sound Transit's Rainier Beach light-rail station.
