MOUNT VERNON -- Homes are selling quickly this summer at Montreaux, a community of single-level homes for adults age 55 or older.

The stand-alone homes at Montreaux include maintained yards and other low-maintenance features. Prices start at $259,900 after being reduced by more than a $100,000 since the grand opening. In addition, new premium homesites are now available.

Those who are 62 or older may qualify for an FHA loan program that allows homebuyers to put down as little as $113,000 and never make a mortgage payment. More information about the program is available at the model homes this weekend.

Montreaux was built by Landed Gentry Homes and Communities, a family-owned company that has been building homes for more than 30 years.

The community's cottage- and Craftsman-style homes include slab granite countertops, hardwood flooring and stainless steel appliances. Other features include finished garages, 3-foot-wide doorways, and fully landscaped and fenced yards.

Double-master-suite designs are being developed now, and draft layouts will be available for review this weekend.

Buyers can personalize flooring, cabinetry, lighting, and kitchen and bathroom packages at builder Landed Gentry's design showroom.

Montreaux is located at the top of the hill next to Eaglemont Golf Course in Mount Vernon. Grocery stores and medical facilities are nearby. Many homes feature views of Mount Baker and the Cascade foothills.

The community offers easy access to Interstate 5 and is three miles from the new Skagit Valley Hospital, as well as Skagit Valley College.
