CLE ELUM -- On the heels of a successful year of home sales, the Black Nugget community at Suncadia Resort has broken ground on homes that feature two new floor plans.
Located in a heavily wooded site on a ridge overlooking a golf course on either side, Black Nugget offers buyers a home away from home 90 miles east of Seattle near Roslyn.
"In less than a year, Black Nugget has gone from a neighborhood plat to a community of 10 resort homes," says Corey Atherton, managing broker at Suncadia Real Estate Sales Company. "The first of the homes was completed last December, and since then, nine homes have closed or gone under contract."
Atherton says Black Nugget homeowners are close to Suncadia's core amenities, including Swiftwater Cellars winery and the resort's spa, swim and fitness facility. There are two 18-hole golf courses and the new Rope Rider Golf Park -- a three-hole, short-iron course.
Suncadia offers year-round recreation including hiking, biking, fly fishing, river rafting, ice skating and cross-country skiing.
"Suncadia is a four-season community -- if it's raining in the fall in Seattle, it's more likely to be sunny at Suncadia, and if it's raining in the winter, you can come over and play in the snow," Atherton says. "A lot of people like to come over for the fall colors.
"And there's no reason to be bored in the wintertime -- we have a tubing hill with rope pull and an ice-skating rink, and we groom our paved hiking trails for cross-country skiing. Snowshoeing is very popular as well, and we are close to some of the best snowmobiling in the region and only a 30-minute drive to the Summit at Snoqualmie for downhill skiing."
Following Thanksgiving, the community will host its annual Winterfest, a holiday tradition that includes family activities such as sleigh rides, breakfast with Santa and music.
The Black Nugget neighborhood pays homage to the surrounding area's coal-mining roots with architectural designs that feature natural cedar siding, aged metal, stone and exposed timber, and lodge-inspired covered back porches with wood-paneled soffits.
Interiors have wide-plank hardwood floors, gas fireplaces framed in stone from floor to ceiling, and kitchens with custom cabinetry and slab granite countertops. Homes are equipped with resource-saving features such as high-efficiency on-demand tankless water heaters.
Four homes are under construction, all with three bedrooms and two-car garages.
"Of the four homes, three have the master bedroom on the main floor," Atherton says. "Our three-bedroom, 2.5-bath Eagle Creek home design is priced at $629,900 and scheduled for completion in December. It offers layers of views overlooking a mountain ridge."
The remaining homes are scheduled for completion in the spring, and Atherton says buyers can select finishes to suit their personal style. Two of the homes feature the new Woodriver floor plan in two variations: a rambler and a two-story design.
"The rambler is priced at $679,900 and has a daylight basement and great golf-course and mountain views," she says. "The two-story version is priced at $649,900 and has vaulted ceilings throughout, as well as a bunkroom and loft space upstairs."
The fourth home has the Silvercliffe design. It features two bedrooms on the main living level, vaulted ceilings throughout and a second-floor bunkroom. "It also has expansive porch and deck areas, and crawl-space storage for all of your outdoor toys," Atherton says.
Black Nugget is built by Steve Burnstead Construction LLC, which has been building homes in the Puget Sound area for over 25 years. Through its Living Wise Program, the company is committed to building sustainable communities. Extensive use of low-VOC (volatile organic compound) materials and standard Broan HEPA air-filtration systems help to create a healthier indoor air environment.
In addition, recycled-content building materials are incorporated throughout the company's new homes.
