KENT — Hawkesbury isn't for run-of-the-mill, garden-variety homebuyers, according to Nancy Gower, a sales representative at Schneider Homes, the community's builder.
She says this weekend's grand opening of the community of one- and two-level Craftsman-style homes is especially noteworthy for "buyers who deserve something better."
"If you were just anyone, you probably wouldn't appreciate all the special new touches at Hawkesbury, combined with all the traditional amenities Schneider Homes has blended into the homes," Gower says. "The designs, the finishes and the feel at Hawkesbury are for homebuyers who know that buying a home here isn't the end of a search; it's the beginning of something very new."
Schneider Homes is offering a variety of grand-opening specials. For the first five buyers at Hawkesbury, complimentary 2-inch white faux-wood blinds will be included for windows. All new homebuyers receive free front-yard maintenance for the first year. And new buyers are eligible for a $4,500 buyer bonus for closing costs or prepaid upgrades if financing is handled by Hawkesbury's preferred lender, Republic Mortgage Home Loan.
Set on lanes, cul-de-sacs and streets edged by sidewalks on both sides, Hawkesbury features 35 homesites in this first of five planned phases. The six completed homes showcase the neighborhood's variety, including designs that range from three to six bedrooms and 2.5 to three baths, plus dens, home offices, bonus rooms, flex rooms and first-floor master bedrooms.
"Our two-story choices are extremely popular, and our rambler styles are a first stop for a growing number of people who want an easily accessed master suite on the main level," Gower says.
In the kitchens, slab granite crowns both countertops and islands that are large enough to accommodate family celebrations, Gower says. Stainless steel appliances complement "stylish maple cabinets with the kind of quiet, 'soft-close' doors and drawers that buyers like," she says.
"You couldn't ask for neater, cleaner finishes than the way Hawkesbury marries painted raised-panel doors with white-painted millwork, chair rails and crown molding found in the formal areas here," Gower says. "And 9-foot ceilings give a sense of volume on the first level that you don't find with just any builder."
Master bedrooms at Hawkesbury include walk-in closets and adjacent bathrooms with tile flooring. Slab granite countertops and tile flooring add flair to the double-sink vanities.
Natural-gas fireplaces are a focal point and favorite for visitors, says Gower. Energy Star-rated windows, tankless gas water heaters and forced-air gas heating systems contribute to the energy efficiency of the homes.
Hawkesbury expands living space to the outdoors with professionally landscaped front yards connected to hydro-seeded backyard lawns.
"Our homesites feature well-sized and completely fenced backyards," Gower says. "The lots are some of the largest we've offered in a long time."
The community is convenient to state Routes 18 and 167. It is close to the Kent Station shopping and entertainment complex, as well as the shopping in Covington, which includes Costco and Walmart.
