ISSAQUAH —¬†Architect Frank Lloyd Wright famously asserted that "form and function should be one, joined in a spiritual union." A local home-design team has taken that unity to heart with EVOKE, a new collection of contemporary luxury homes.

Two EVOKE model homes in Issaquah are open by appointment for tours, along with the EVOKE "Expression Center," which introduces homebuyers to the design and material choices available to help them create their individual styles.

The first two EVOKE neighborhoods feature homes oriented to maximize privacy and light. EVOKE at Pine Lake is a 13-home community in Sammamish, and EVOKE at 132nd is a seven-home collection in Kirkland. Both are located near schools and local amenities, and offer convenient freeway access to Bellevue and Seattle.

"We wanted to do more than build the ultimate Northwest luxury home," says Jennifer Kim, AIA, residential architect for EVOKE. "We strive to design our homes to be a physical realization of the individual homeowner's lifestyle.

"We believe great design should be married with how each person or family wants to live. If you're into cooking, or entertaining, or wine, or even a classic comic-book collection, your home should facilitate those passions, while having a modern, elegant, sophisticated design."

EVOKE offers customizable plans with clean, modern lines, she says. Ten-foot ceilings amplify natural light and give each EVOKE home a spacious feel.

"What makes EVOKE homes truly different is the design," says EVOKE's sales manager, Yang He Lee. "Owners share their ideas, vision and dreams and tell us their needs, which are then transferred into a home that flows effortlessly, but still focuses on their personality. The EVOKE homebuying experience is truly unique."

EVOKE homes are integrated into Northwest living inside and out, with carefully placed windows and outdoor courtyards. For homeowners who like year-round indoor/outdoor entertaining, options such as fireplaces, heaters and kitchens are available.

Other EVOKE features include the latest in-home technologies, such as iPad-controlled audio systems, programmable electronic window shades, and room-by-room climate-control systems that are operated by the touch of a button.

Lee says prospective EVOKE homebuyers begin the process with a "lifestyle interview." They share details on how they plan to live in the home, and explore whether they might require an office that is separate from the home, or a master bedroom that is downstairs instead of up. Personal hobbies might also elicit specific design recommendations.

After the interview, EVOKE staff craft a plan that outlines the buyer's vision of how he or she wants to live in a new home. "We've elevated and refined the custom luxury homebuying experience," Lee says.

EVOKE homes range in size from 2,400 to 3,400 square feet. Prices start in the high $800,000s.

"I'm thrilled to be part of the team that is making the leap from home architecture to lifestyle architecture," Lee says. "This personalized approach to homebuilding and design is something that others simply don't do. Our customers have found that to be very valuable with such an important decision."
