KIRKLAND — Vintner's Ridge will celebrate its grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 28-29 with home tours, food and giveaways sponsored by Cobalt Mortgage. Visitors this weekend can enter for a chance to win one of four Woodinville wine packages.

Overlooking the Sammamish Valley, the collection of three- to five-bedroom homes is located minutes from Evergreen Hospital and the wineries in Woodinville.

"Our location is superb — [Vintner's Ridge offers] extensive views of the Cascades," says Margaret Woehlert, the community's sales manager. "You can sit back, relax and enjoy the hot-air balloons that float above the valley."

Twelve of the 51 homes planned at Vintner's Ridge have sold. One of them was to Manoj Rawat and his wife, Leena.

"We were looking for a new home in a pristine and quiet location, yet not more than a 10- to 15-minute drive from my Microsoft office, [as well as] shopping, recreation, outdoor activities, Bellevue and Kirkland, and the lakefront," Rawat says. "Also, we wanted a new or less than 5-year-old house built by a reputable builder. Meeting all these requirements at a reasonable price was a huge challenge for our Realtor. We went through weeks of searching until we saw our present home at Vintner's Ridge. My wife and I loved it immediately."

The community, built by the Burnsteads, has nine homes for sale. Three of the homes are complete and ready for move-in; they feature the Chardonnay, Bordeaux and Malbec floor plans.

The Chardonnay is a 3,100-square-foot, four-bedroom plan that includes a first-floor den and second-floor bonus room. "The kitchen is gorgeous. The cabinets have a deep rich stain with a backsplash that showcases shades of charcoal and blue — it really pops," Woehlert says.

The Malbec is a 3,429-square-foot, four-bedroom home with a first-floor den, second-floor loft space and a bonus room. A formal dining room includes accent painting and fireplace with TraverStone mantle. "This is a one-of-a-kind home in Vintner's Ridge," she says. "As a bonus, this home sits on a large, sunny corner lot."

The third move-in-ready home has the Bordeaux design. It includes more than 3,700 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, a daylight basement and a main-floor den.

"The kitchen [in the Bordeaux home] is beautifully appointed with full-height tile backsplash, painted cabinetry, quartz countertops in a charcoal hue, and frosted-glass pantry doors," Woehlert says. "The home includes a deck off of the breakfast nook, as well as a patio off of the basement rec room. The unique feature about the downstairs patio is that it is completely covered and protected — the above deck is finished, so it keeps the patio dry and expands the outdoor living space to year-round use. This backyard is very quiet and serene, and includes a fire pit."

The Burnsteads is a local homebuilder that spans two generations. Founder Fred Burnstead began building homes east of Lake Washington more than 50 years ago, and today three companies operate under the Burnstead name.

"Almost everyone who walks through the door has been either a Burnstead homes fan or a previous owner of a Burnstead home," Woehlert says. "They all know the name and are aware of the design, craftsmanship and customer service that are synonymous with a Burnstead home."

Vintner's Ridge homebuyers Vamsi and Sirisha Kanamaluru say they saw a commitment from the Burnstead staff to ensure their satisfaction.

"The buying experience has been excellent -- the customer service has been outstanding," Vamsi Kanamaluru says. "They allowed us to make some structural changes in the kitchen, add a skylight and extend a couple of windows. They have extensive design selections, and worked with us closely to shape the look of our house. The completed home is premium quality all over, with superior finishes and good attention to detail. We're super happy."
