REDMOND — Work is underway on the 58 homes planned at Kempin Meadows, and community representatives are hosting "sneak peek" hard-hat tours this weekend of a model home under construction.
"If you are looking for a brand-new detached home of comparable size and quality in the area, you will not find anything priced under $700,000," says Jim Summers, the listing agent at Kempin Meadows. "Our paired homes 'live' like single-family homes, but offer the low maintenance of a condominium — front yards are maintained by the homeowners' association."
The hard-hat tours will take place at a model featuring the community's signature Neimann floor plan — a 2,892-square-foot, four-bedroom, 3.5-bath design. The home is scheduled for completion at the end of the year.
"The home is framed and siding is being installed. When you walk through it, you really get a feel for the home," Summers says. "This is a completely innovative floor plan. It's much larger than a traditional paired home."
He says there will be model homes offering two variations of the plan.
"One variation will feature an oversize recreation room on the lower level that can easily accommodate a pool table and media room, " Summers says. "On the main living level, the kitchen will include a large walk-in pantry and storage closet. Upstairs, the master suite will be in the rear of the home, facing a greenbelt.
"The second variation will include a lower-level rec room, plus a guest bedroom and bath, and on the main living level there will be a library connected to the great room. Upstairs, the master suite is in the front of the home, facing a rain garden," he says.
The Neimann floor plan is one of six designs available at Kempin Meadows. The two- and three-story homes will have three to five bedrooms and share walls along non-living spaces, such as hallways and garages, for added privacy.
Homes feature Tudor-, shingle- and Craftsman-inspired architecture and include five-piece master baths, two-car garages and strategically placed windows to capture natural light. Those who purchase a presale home can work one-on-one with the builder and a professional designer to select color palettes and finishes.
The community is surrounded by mature evergreens and will include two parks and 2.5 acres of preserved wetlands.
Kempin Meadows is approximately 6 miles from Marymoor Park and 4 miles from Redmond Town Center and downtown Redmond. The Microsoft campus is approximately 6 miles away.
The community is in the Lake Washington School District, and Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary is nearby. In 2012, the school was ranked 12th out of 1,002 public elementary schools in the state by SchoolDigger.com.
Kempin Meadows is being built by CamWest, a Toll Brothers company. Toll Brothers was named 2012 Builder of the Year by Professional Builder magazine, becoming the first builder to win the honor twice.
Its purchase of CamWest Development, LLC — which has been building homes locally for more than 20 years -- expanded the company's reach to the Pacific Northwest.
