KENT — Hawkesbury isn't for run-of-the-mill, garden-variety homebuyers, according to Nancy Gower, a sales representative at Schneider Homes, the community's builder.

She says this weekend's grand opening of Phase II of the community of one- and two-story Craftsman-style homes is especially noteworthy for "buyers who deserve something better."

"You will appreciate all the special new touches at Hawkesbury, combined with all of the standard amenities Schneider Homes has blended into the homes," Gower says. "The designs, the finishes and the feel in the homes at Hawkesbury are for homebuyers who know that buying a home here isn't the end of a search; it's the beginning of something very new."

For a limited time, homebuyers who work with one of the builder's preferred lenders will receive a deluxe appliance package that includes a GE Profile stainless steel French-door refrigerator and front-load washer and dryer, as well as a $4,500 buyer bonus to be used on closing costs or upgrades.

Hawkesbury features a park with picnic table, playground, climbing toy and sports court. The community includes 35 homesites in its first two of five planned phases.

Six completed homes showcase the neighborhood's variety, including designs that range from three to six bedrooms and 2.5 to three baths, plus dens, home offices, bonus rooms, flex rooms and first-floor master suites.

A selection of home designs are also available as presales.

"Our two-story homes are extremely popular, and our ramblers are a first stop for a growing number of people who desire a single-level home," Gower says.

In the kitchens, slab granite crowns both countertops and islands that are large enough to accommodate family celebrations.

"GE stainless steel appliances complement stylish maple cabinets with the kind of quiet, 'soft-close' doors and drawers that our buyers like, as well as walk-in pantries with rain glass door — all standard," she says.

"You couldn't ask for neater, cleaner finishes than the way Hawkesbury marries painted raised-panel doors with white-painted millwork, chair rail and crown molding in the formal areas here as well as wide-plank engineered hardwood flooring at the entry, powder bath, kitchen and nook available in a number of styles and colors."

Master suites at Hawkesbury feature walk-in closets. Adjacent five-piece baths have tile flooring, a separate shower with glass door, a soaking tub with tile surround, and a double vanity with slab granite countertop and wood-wrapped mirror.

Natural-gas fireplaces faced with natural stone are a focal point and favorite feature for visitors, says Gower. Energy Star-rated windows, tankless gas water heaters and forced-air gas heating systems contribute to the energy efficiency of the homes.

"Hawkesbury expands living space to the outdoors with professionally landscaped front yards and completely fenced backyards," Gower says. "Optional patio covers are also available for year-round use."

The community offers convenient access to state Routes 18 and 167. It is close to shopping in nearby Covington, which includes Safeway, QFC, Costco, Kohl's, Fred Meyer, Walmart, The Home Depot and other retailers.
