SEATTLE — Sarah Vrooman and her husband, Tyler, arrived in Seattle from out of state in June for what turned out to be a brief search for a new home. On the first day, they visited Briarcliff, and they immediately knew their search was over.
"Briarcliff was the second community we looked at, and we just knew that this was it," Vrooman says. "The views from the neighborhood are amazing — they stop you in your tracks and draw you in."
Built by Toll Brothers, the collection of 39 three- and four-bedroom homes is located on a bluff above Puget Sound. It includes views of the water, the Seattle skyline, Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains.
Briarcliff is the only new luxury-home neighborhood in Seattle's historic Magnolia neighborhood. The homes have a mix of architectural designs, including Craftsman, shingle and contemporary styles.
"They've done a nice job of blending the architectural styles and detailing with the established homes in the neighborhood," Vrooman says. "The new homes blend seamlessly with their surroundings."
The Vroomans chose the Crestmont floor plan, one of five designs available at Briarcliff. It includes a bedroom on the lower level with its own bath and entrance.
"We saw it as a great option for long-term visits," Vrooman says. "My parents are close to retiring, and my mother-in-law is retired. We want them to make the most of their stays. This gives them a private place to go if they need a break."
Depending on the design, the homes at Briarcliff may include open great rooms, formal and informal spaces, lower-level rec rooms, covered decks, wine storage and third-floor bonus rooms.
Those who purchase a presale home can personalize their spaces at the builder's design studio in Kirkland. Buyers can work with professional designers to choose cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting packages and more.
"The design process was amazing — we can't say enough good things about it," Vrooman says. "It was great having a designer there to help bring our vision to life. We designed our entire house in two four-hour appointments, and we left feeling excited and confident that we had made the right selections."
Briarcliff's location provides quick access to South Lake Union and downtown Seattle. It is less than a half-mile from Discovery Park, a 534-acre space that includes trails and tidal beaches.
Metropolitan Market is minutes away on 34th Avenue West. Approximately 1 mile away is Magnolia Village, which includes Oliver's Twist, a cocktail bar and restaurant that opened in July.
"We are so excited by the spirit of community that is growing here," says Aubree Hazel, the community representative at Briarcliff. "We just had a new family move in this month, and their neighbors brought over some cookies for a snack as they were moving in."
The Vroomans will move into their new home in the fall.
"With two young kids, our home is the heart of our family," Vrooman says. "We love Seattle and the people we've met so far. We're looking forward to entertaining new friends and out-of-town guests."
