KIRKLAND — When the Liekwegs were shopping recently for a new home, they found the perfect address just 3 miles away.

Last month, the couple moved out of the home they had lived in for the past 25 years and into a home at the Lakeview Lane community. The short move has made a big difference for the Liekwegs, who were looking to live closer to downtown Kirkland's amenities.

"We've always loved Kirkland," Rayna Liekweg says. "The downtown and waterfront are beautiful, and the town is very friendly and quaint with a lot of personality. We wanted to be able to leave our car behind and walk to all that Kirkland has to offer."

She says she is able to walk to the same bank that she has used for 25 years. Metropolitan Market, PCC Natural Markets and Starbucks are also within walking distance.

"On a day-to-day basis, we can walk to most everything we need to do," Liekweg says.
"And we can hop on [Metro's] 255 bus close by and be in Seattle in as little as 10 to 15 minutes."

Built by Toll Brothers, Lakeview Lane recently opened a model home in its second phase, which includes five three- and four-bedroom homes. Some of the homes offer views of Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains.

"Our newly furnished model has the three-bedroom Bradley design, which features an open floor plan on the first level," says David Liddle, the community sales representative. "The kitchen has a slab stone countertop with a glass backsplash, and hardwood floors in a rich mocha shade extend throughout the main living level.

"Upstairs, the master suite has its own private deck with a panoramic view of the water, mountains and Seattle. The master bath has an oversize shower and a soaking tub."

Liddle says a home with the three-story, four-bedroom Baldy floor plan is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year. It features a wide foyer and formal entertaining spaces separated by a staircase.

The living room and family room both have gas fireplaces, and the second-floor master suite features two walk-in closets and an extended sitting area.

On the lower level, a guest bedroom with its own full bath and walk-in closet is an ideal spot for out-of-town guests.

Those who purchase a presale home at Lakeview Lane can personalize their spaces at the builder's design studio in Kirkland. Buyers work one-on-one with interior designers to select their cabinetry, countertops, appliances, window coverings and more.

"This is the closest we've ever come to building a home," Liekweg says. "We're very happy with the selections we made."

She says moving into a new community has been a unique experience. "Everyone here is relatively new, so you have an instant affinity. We are really pleased with how friendly everyone is and how quickly we've made friends."
