Ford introduces soy-foam seats and Lexus sets the price of its luxury hybrid

Ford has a long history using of soy-based products in its vehicles, and it latest product -- soy foam -- recently won a 2009 R&D 100 Award from R&D Magazine. The renewable material, which has a soy rather than petroleum base, is in the seat backs and cushions of eight Ford vehicles, including the Mustang, F-150 and Focus.

Lexus has announced that the MSRP for its hybrid-only luxury model, the HS 250h hybrid, will be $34,200 for the standard version and $36,970 for the premium model. The cars, which have the best combined EPA mpg rating of any luxury vehicle in the U.S. at 35 mpg, will arrive at dealerships late this month.
