Survey: Car buyers open to U.S. brands
An overwhelming percentage of new-car buyers said they would consider a vehicle made by Detroit's Big Three, according to a survey released recently by the Consumer Reports National Research Center. The nationwide survey found that 81 percent of new-car buyers said they were likely or very likely to consider an American brand; 47 percent said they were likely or very likely to consider an Asian brand; and 46 percent said they were likely or very likely to consider a European brand. This is the first year for the survey. A similar survey conducted earlier this year by AutoPacific, an industry marketing and consulting firm, showed 72 percent of consumers were likely to consider buying an American vehicle.

Some Seattle Zipcars get outdoorsy
Zipcar has outfitted eight Seattle Subaru Imprezas with bike racks, and 30 vehicles with federal Northwest Forest Passes. The passes, which give Zipcar users free entrance and parking at Washington and Oregon National Forests, are valid through July 2010, and are in Honda Elements and Subaru Foresters and Imprezas. The bike racks will stay in place through the fall.
