Audi unveils electric car plans and Germany's Trabant gets model treatment

Audi etron

Audi electric
Audi unveiled plans for an electric car at last month's Frankfurt Auto Show. The e-tron, a fully electric high-performance sports car still in development, will be a four-motor drive and deliver 313 horsepower. The e-tron's two-seat design looks similar to the Audi R8.

No toy
One of the symbols of East Germany, the Trabant, has inspired a German toy manufacturer to create a full-scale electric prototype. Klaus Schindler, director of Herpa Miniature Models, showed the car at the Frankfurt Auto Show last month. It looks the original, though it has four doors and a solar panel on the roof. The overall range is expected to be about 100 miles.
